Establish who supplied the goods or service

Keep the invoice, receipt, contract, order confirmation, and payment record. Identify the trader’s legal or licensed name rather than relying only on a social-media account or marketplace display name. If a separate platform, installer, or finance provider was involved, explain each role. This helps distinguish a complaint against a Dubai trader from an issue that may belong with a different regulator or jurisdiction.

Preserve what was promised at the time

Save the product description, warranty, delivery commitment, or agreed service scope as it appeared when you purchased. Record what was delivered and how it differs from the agreement. Photographs, inspection notes, or repair records can help explain a defect. Keep the original files and the item where practical, and avoid presenting a later version of an advertisement as if it were the original offer.

Make a focused request to the business

Describe the problem, the date it arose, and the remedy you want considered. Ask for a written response and keep the complaint reference. Distinguish a defect or non-performance issue from a change of mind, because the legal and contractual analysis may differ. Do not assume every purchase carries an unconditional return right or that every requested remedy must be available in the same circumstances.

Check the official complaint channel’s scope

Dubai’s consumer-protection guidance asks for complaint details together with the invoice or contract and supporting documents. Confirm the current official route and whether the transaction falls within its remit before submitting. Some sectors and cross-border transactions may require another authority. A complaint acknowledgement is not a court judgment, and an administrative process should not be assumed to suspend any separate legal deadline.

Record the resolution and any remaining issues

Keep repair offers, replacement details, refund records, and proposed settlement terms with the original file. Check exactly what a release or acknowledgement says before signing it. If the matter remains unresolved, ask what further route is available and what evidence is still missing. A concise, consistent record helps an adviser assess the issue without reconstructing it from disconnected messages.

Bring the details together

Before your next step.

  • Trader identity, invoice or contract, and proof of payment.
  • The original description or promise and evidence of the problem.
  • A specific remedy request with the business’s responses.
  • Complaint references and the complete proposed resolution.
